It's spring, and after spending weeks searching for the
perfect prom dress, you've finally found it.
Now you face the task of finding the perfect shoes to go
with your dress. With a few fashion tricks, believe it or
not, this is the easy part. However, keep in mind that you
will be dancing all night long, so comfort is as important
as style. After all, how will you look your best if your
feet are killing you?
Your first choice may be a pair of high heels. These shoes
are a very common style of shoe for many reasons, the first
being that they make a woman's legs appear longer and
slimmer, plus they force you to use good posture. These
shoes are available in 2", 4", 5", 6", 7", and extreme 8"
heights. However, there is no need for you to attempt to
stand in heels taller than 2 inches. Keep in mind that you
will be dancing and on your feet for most of the night.
A popular style of dress shoe is the strapped dress sandals.
These can be worn with most dress styles. However, if you
are not use to them, they can be pain to wear especially
when dancing. Closed toe shoes may be your best option. If
you decide to wear an enclosed toe shoe, make sure that it
has a soft, cushioned upper lining that is preferable
leather.
If you have a lose fitting flowing skirt to your dress you
may want to consider ballet shoes. These are extremely
comfortable to wear. However, if your dress is tight
fitting, then shoes with a slight heel are your best choice.
When trying on shoes for your prom, try on both shoes and
walk, in them. If you're not shy, even try a few dance
moves. Do not buy shoes that are not a perfect fit. Shoes,
which are either too large or too small, will not be
comfortable. Don't think you can stuff the toe with paper
and make the shoe fit---it will never be comfortable. You
want to remember this night for the fun you had, not for the
blisters you got. If the store has sold out of your size, go
online and search for the correct size. Chances are you will
find the right size and many times at a reduced price.
It may be difficult to find a color of shoes, which matches
your dress perfectly. This leaves you with two options,
first decide on a color that is complementary such as black
for a dark dress and white, or bone for light colored
dressed. Another solution is to have the shoes dyed it to
match, providing that they are the type that can be dyed.
Keep in mind however that when you dye shoes, purses, and
items aftermarket the dyed items will appear to be a
different color indoors compared to outdoors. For instanced,
items that are dyed teal may appear to have more of a green
tone instead of a bluish-green tone outside. This problem
cannot be corrected, therefore let your dyer know if the
Prom will be held indoor or outdoor.
You've finally found the perfect shoes---now break them in
by wear them around the
house for an hour or so each day for a week. This will make
the shoes more comfortable, giving you a chance to get use
to the style of shoe and how it feels on your feet before
your big night.
